About This Event
The Company continues its world tour with a stop in the Old Pueblo. Led by resident choreographer Robert Garland, this multi-ethnic company performs a forward-thinking repertoire that includes treasured classics and neoclassical works by George Balanchine. Through performances, community engagement, and arts education, the Company carries forward Dance Theatre of Harlems message of empowerment through the arts for all. Dance Theatre of Harlem was founded in 1969 at the height of the civil rights movement by Arthur Mitchell and Karel Shook. The company has grown to have a lasting impact on the American ballet scene and become a beacon for black dancers worldwide. Its been a pioneer in the dance world, integrating stages and spreading the art of ballet through massive outreach programs at home and abroad.
